Commission portraits are my specialty and I enjoy the challenge of all kinds of commission portraits such as family members, pets, farm animals, wildlife, homes, cars, motorcycles, etc.. Your satisfaction after the portrait is finished and presented to you completes the commission. I require a 10% non-refundable deposit for a portrait in oil on canvas to cover my cost in material. I enjoy creating both oil on canvas and pencil portraits.

For example: A typical family member portrait would be painted in oil on canvas, 20" X 16" and framed. The family member would be about life-size on canvas. A photo of the family member for reference can be used or the individual can come to my studio for a photo shoot and the work process would require from about 10 to 20 sessions, working on the portrait exclusively. My charge for this type of portrait is $450. For those who would like to have two or more subjects in a group portrait, each additional subject is $225. If you would like to have a portrait of a loved one (person or pet), you can also email me the photo of the loved one for reference. We would discuss the details of the arrangement through email or phone and when I have finished the portrait, I would send you a photo of the finished portrait and pending your approval, I would check UPS for shipping cost for the framed portrait.

If the individual would rather have me paint a finished portrait of them while they sit and model for me, that would be fine. Most people don't choose this option because it would require that they come to my studio once or twice a day for one to two weeks to pose in the same outfit. These sessions would last up to two hours each.

A portrait of a child, using oil paint, on a 16" X 12" canvas including a nice frame is $350 plus shipping cost. This would enable the child to be painting approximately life size for the head & shoulders. I can also paint a child on a large canvas, the whole person standing or sitting for $700 plus shipping cost. Typically, the canvas would be 36" X 24" and framed.

A portrait of a pet, using oil paint, on a 16" X 12" canvas including a nice frame is $350 plus shipping cost. This would enable the average size pet be presented in approximately life size for the head and shoulders, or if a smaller pet, the whole pet, such as a tiny dog or a cat, depending on the wishes of the owner which can be negotiated. Additional pets, which can be from a separate photo, is $175 per pet. A large full bodied pet on a large canvas would be $350 plus shipping cost.

I have currently added a type of oil portrait for those who might be interested and visit my studio, whereby the customer models for me for about two hours to acquire a portrait from life for $100.00. This is an oil on canvas, 20" X 16" and is a "quick oil portrait" or "oil sketch". My goal with this type of portrait is to capture the individual's likeness and character in a "one session" sitting. You can email me a photo of the subject to draw, describing what you would like. My fee for creating a drawing like this is $225 for the first subject and $120 for each additional subject .. and includes a black acid-free matt & frame. When a drawing is completed, I'll send you a photo of the finished portrait and if you approve, I would then check to find the shipping cost for the drawing, adding it to the price of the drawing and notify you. If you would like a pencil drawing of several persons or pets, my largest format for a pencil drawing is 18" X 24" whereby I could draw up to four persons or pets.
